Cycling: miles of cycle paths await you!
The shells and pine cones loop: a ride from the seafront to the heart of the national forest, before skirting the Esplanade de la Mer and admiring the Saint Jean de Monts pier. Departure point: Palais des Congrès Odysséa, Saint Jean de Monts, 17 km (1h10), difficulty: easy.
The marsh circuit: starting from the beach at Saint Jean de Monts, this walk takes you to the heart of the gentle marshlands (in the commune of Le Perrier) along quiet little roads, away from the crowds. Start: Esplanade de la Mer, Saint Jean de Monts, 17 km (1h30), difficulty: easy.
Mountain bike trail: an off-road outing in the heart of the 2,260-hectare forest. The trail leads from the Fontenelles massif, south of Saint Jean de Monts, to the Grande Côte beach at La Barre de Monts. Start: massif des Fontenelles in Saint Jean de Monts, distance: 29 km (58 km return), difficulty: difficult.

The Vélodyssée in the Saint Jean de Monts area
La Vélodyssée, the longest cycle route in France, runs along the Vendée coast over 210km of cycle paths, passing through the three seaside resorts of the Pays de Saint Jean de Monts: La Barre de Monts/Fromentine, Notre Dame de Monts and Saint Jean de Monts.
The programme also includes 18km of cycle paths along the coastline.
ou’ll pass through the Marais Breton Vendéen, oyster beds, national forest and wild dunes, before arriving at the great beach of Saint-Jean-de-Monts.
