Getting to and around Saint Jean de Monts

By car or camper van

  • From Paris: Océane motorway A11 / Le Mans / Angers, then A87
  • From Caen: A84 and N137
  • From Bordeaux: A10 motorway, then the A83 towards La Roche/Yon

From Nantes: Bordeaux A83, then exit at St-Philbert-de-Grand-Lieu towards Machecoul, Challans, Saint-Jean-de-Monts.

To reach our campsite in Saint-Jean de Monts: follow the D38 towards Notre Dame de Monts/ Noirmoutier. The campsite entrance is about 3 km on the left.

By train / regional coach

The nearest TGV station is in Nantes. Then take regional coach line no. 12, which runs from Nantes SNCF station (south access) to Saint-Jean-de-Monts, via Challans (approx. 1h20).

By plane

Nantes Atlantique airport (75 km), tel: 0 892 56 88 00 (€0.40 per minute), www.nantes.aeroport.fr. Allow around 50 minutes’ drive between Nantes and Saint Jean de Monts.

Getting around Saint Jean de Monts

Have you arrived at your holiday destination? It’s easy to get around Saint Jean de Monts without a car.

La Littorale” summer shuttle (July and August)

In July and August, the “La Littorale” shuttle provides a regular service between La Barre de Monts and Saint Gilles Croix de Vie. The buses run from early June to early September, every day from 8am to 11pm. They serve five coastal towns and their beaches: La Barre-de-Monts, Notre-Dame-de-Monts, Saint-Jean-de-Monts, Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez and Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie. Price per journey: €0.50, bicycles can be taken on board (book the day before), information: 09 69 39 14 14.

The Saint Jean de Monts city bus (all year round)

Thanks to the urban bus, you can travel around Saint-Jean-de-Monts free of charge. The line serves the various districts of the resort, with around twenty stops. The bus makes a loop between the seafront and the town centre. Information: 02 51 59 97 00.

 Cycle routes

Cycling is an easy and efficient way to get around Saint Jean de Monts! In fact, the resort was awarded first prize for the most cycle-friendly town in France in 2022 by the Fédération des usagers de la bicyclette. The Pays de Monts cycle network comprises over 170km of cycle paths, 70km of which are exclusive right-of-way.
